Get course roster

The third item on the Configuration menu allows you to retrieve a file containing a list of the students in the class:

This file is primarily of interest only to the teacher of the course for use within a spreadsheet program, such as Microsoft's Excel, for managing grades.

When you click on the link, Manhattan immediately sends you the text file. A "Save File" dialog box will pop up on your web browser. The name of the file will be same as the "internal course name" used to identify the classroom on the server, followed by the extension .txt.

As indicated in the menu item's description, the file is a plain text file that provides the Student ID and full name for each student. For example:

"83763363" "John Adams"
"93847377" "Martha Banes"
"93837744" "Cindy Cyndilia"

The format of the file, with the Student ID numbers in the first column, allows teachers to easily create a spreadsheet file to upload to Manhattan's Grades module. The Grades module is covered in detail in Manhattan's Teacher's Reference, which includes an explanation on how to import a roster file into Microsoft Excel.
